Can you get away with marrying the same person twice?

I secretly got married in my hometown at the civil court, and now my husband and I want to have a wedding in vegas and invite our whole family as a way of making up for the time we eloped. My question is, will we be able to get a marraige license in Vegas even though we already have one in California. Will the California county courthouse find out? If so, what will happen?
