Why are fullerenes good lubricants?
For the same reason that ball-bearings reduce friction. Fullerenes (after R. Buckminster Fuller) aka Bucky- are fairly large molecules with a geodeisic structure & are roughly spherical. They don't easily interact with other compounds.
